Adding a system where Bonus Damage that breaks through Armor and Shields will Linger. i.e. if damaged by Fire, a player or NPC is then somewhat on fire, with more fire damage affecting them over time.
This will apply to various bonus damage types, such as Poison, Acid, Disease, Frost, etc ...
Such Lingering Damage will be tested each tick against your Armor, any Bonuses against the particular Damage Type will help.
The amount of Lingering Damage to be based on initial strike value, and will decrease naturally over time.
Potions or Spells might help remove such effects quickly.
